Online History & Social Studies Teacher

Compensation:
• $16 per 50-minute lesson.
• $8 per trial lesson (the first lesson with a student). Subsequent lessons are paid at the full rate.

Teaching Content:
• Teach U.S. middle and high school courses in U.S. History, World History, World Geography, Civics, and U.S. Government.
• Help students understand historical events, causes and consequences, and connections across different periods and societies.
• Develop students’ skills in analyzing primary and secondary sources, interpreting maps and timelines, and evaluating evidence.
• Guide students in constructing evidence-based arguments and writing clear historical explanations.
• Provide assignment feedback and support preparation for course assessments.

Teachers may apply for one or more subjects. Please specify the courses and grade levels you are qualified to teach.

Students:
• Students are minors under the age of 18.

Lesson Format:
• One-to-one online lessons.
• Each lesson lasts 50 minutes.
• Lessons are taught in English.

Working Hours:
Part-time and full-time opportunities are available within 13:00–23:00 China Standard Time (Asia/Shanghai, UTC+8).

• Part-time: Provide a 4-hour availability block within the peak teaching window of 18:00–23:00.
• Full-time: Provide 8 hours of availability per day, including 4 hours during the peak teaching window. The remaining 4 hours may be selected flexibly within 13:00–23:00.

Scheduling and Payment:
• Both part-time and full-time teachers are paid for completed lessons.
• Lessons are scheduled based on the availability you provide, so you do not need to manage bookings yourself.

Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of one or more of the subjects listed above.
• Familiarity with U.S. middle or high school history and social studies curricula.
• A degree in history, geography, political science, education, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly in English and help students distinguish facts, interpretations, and opinions.
• Ability to facilitate respectful discussions and encourage evidence-based reasoning.
• Experience teaching teenagers; online teaching experience is preferred.
• Reliable internet access and a suitable environment for online teaching.
• Experience with Edmentum, Apex, or PLATO is a plus.
